The Collection of the  14th International Bibliological Conference Proceedings Is Published

The National Library of Belarus prepared and published the proceedings of the 14th International Bibliological Conference, which was timed to the 400th anniversary of the first Belarusian “Bukvar” (ABC-Book) and held on April 26–27, 2018.

This year’s conference continued the sound tradition and gathered scholars from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Great Britain, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine. The event organizers were the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus. The co-organizers were Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after M. Tank and the National Institute of Education.

The collection includes the reports of known researchers and specialists of national and biggest libraries, museums, archives and research institutions of Belarus and other countries about the history and current state of national book culture and the development of teaching traditions in Belarus.

The publication’s structure reflects the variety of topics, which were discussed at the conference. The collection consists of the following parts:

  • “Bukvar and the teaching tradition of Belarus”
  • “Teaching of writing and reading and Belarusian primers”
  • “Hand-written and printed books of the 16th –18th centuries in national and foreign collections”
  • “Belarusian books of the 19th–20th centuries”
  • “Historical book collections and the development of librarianship in Belarus”
  • “The design of hand-written and printed books”

The reports, delivered during the 14th International Bibliological Conference, are very relevant and offer innovative approaches to the solution of scientific problems. The conference was attended by both well-known scientists and young researchers. The issues considered in the reports are of great scientific and practical importance.

The publication is designed for researchers of book culture, teachers, historians, philologists, cultural historians, and everyone who is interested in the past and present of Belarusian intellectual tradition.

The collection “The Proceedings of the 14th International Bibliological Conference, Timed to the 400th Anniversary of the First “Bukvar”, Minsk, April 26–27, 2018” is available by subscription and in the kiosk on the 1st floor, next to the central entrance.
