Information letter
The 10th International Congress “Library as a cultural phenomenon”, dedicated to the year of peace and creativeness, will be held on October 19-20, 2023.

The National Library of Belarus invites to partnership in hosting the International Congress.

Topics scheduled for discussion at plenary and breakout sessions:

  • Modern library: peace and creativity as main conditions for cultural heritage preservation;
  • Library as informational, educational and sociocultural space;
  • Library in the national digital ecosystem;
  • Resources and services of libraries in modern information space;
  • Electronic library as the element of digital transformation of library activity;
  • Development of users’ information culture;
  • Focus areas of corporate cooperation of libraries, archives, museums;
  • Book and reading in modern cultural space;
  • Library publishing activity;
  • Innovative library projects;
  • Preservation of library collections;
  • Legal support of library activity;
  • Features of statistical accounting in a modern library activity;
  • Human resources in libraries;
  • Libraries and mass communication media.

Working languages:
Belarusian, Russian, English

Experts of libraries, museums, archives, research and educational institutions, publishers and representatives of state institutions and public organizations are invited to take part in the Congress.

Exhibitions:
The National Library of Belarus provides the possibility to demonstrate products and services to anyone interested.

Terms of participation:
The Congress will be held in hybrid format with the possibility of in-person and virtual participation, online translations and discussions.

Please, submit your paper to secretar@nlb.by before September 25, 2023 and presentation (if any) to secretar@nlb.by before October 2, 2023.

To participate in the Congress, please, register online before October 2, 2023.

Meals, lodging and transportation fees are paid by the participants.

Time limit:
Reports at the plenary session – up to 20 minutes, at the breakout sessions – up to 10 minutes.

Paper requirements:
Original papers of scientific and applied importance are accepted. The paper should not be published before and has to correspond to the thematic field of the Congress. Papers are planned to be published before the Congress.
The paper should include the title, author’s/co-author’s full name, science degree, full name of the organization, city and country, full name of a person who will present the paper at the Congress.
The total size of a paper including annotations, drawings, attachments, schemes, etc. should be up to 6 pages, format A4, Times New Roman, type size 13, 1.5 line spacing, file type rtf, doc or docx.
Bibliography should be listed alphabetically after the paper’s text body. References to the sources should be given in the square brackets, for example [3, p. 15].
The summary in Russian should be up to 700 symbols (including spaces).

The Organizing committee is authorized to select papers for presentation at the Congress and their further publication as a Collection.

Requirements for video-reports:
Video orientation should be in a landscape mode. Video should be made with the microphone, good lightning and excluding any additional noises. Time duration is up to 10 minutes.

Requirements for presentation:
File type – ppt Microsoft PowerPoint.
