15th Bibliological Conference: 1st Day

On April 4 the opening of the 15th Bibliological Conference, a plenary session, three sections and the opening of the “Keepers of Rarities” exhibition were held in the National Library of Belarus.

The following reports were made at the plenary meeting:

““I am drawn to old volumes... ”: to the history of the creation of the Bibliology Research Department of the National Library of Belarus” by Galina Kireeva, Chief bibliographer of the Bibliology Research Department, National Library of Belarus (Belarus);

"The main research directions in the Department of Libraries and Reading History at the Book and Readership Institute of the National Library in Warsaw" by Dr. Tomasz Szwaciński, Ag. Head of the Book and Readership Institute of the National Library in Warsaw, Candidate of Historical Sciences (Poland);

“Foreign publications from the Nesvizh Library of the Radzivill princes in the foreign “Baer fund” of the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences: experience of discovery and description” by Elena Ermoshina, Head of Collections and Services Department of the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Irina Afanaseva, Chief conservator of the Foreign Collection of the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Russia);

Dr. hab. Zoja Jaroszewicz-Pieresławcew, professor at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (Poland);

"Printed editions of the Belarusian emigration and diaspora in the British Library collections" by Dr. Ekaterina Rogatchevskaia, leading curator of Eastern European collections of the European and American collections department of the British Library, PhD (United Kingdom).

On the first day, there were held three sessions:
1. Theory and methodology of book culture. Bibliographic research trends.
2. Historical libraries.
3. Handwritten monuments and archival documents as sources for the study of the history and culture of Belarus.
