The Program of the 15th  International Bibliological Conference

The jubilee 15th International Bibliological Conference is to be held in the National Library, from 4 to 5 April. The program features over 100 reports, plenary and breakout sessions, meetings of researchers from different countries, scientific discussions, and also the opening of the "Keepers of Rarities" exhibition.

The first bibliological conference took place in 1998. It is significant that, in two decades, some of the organizers and participants of the first conference will take part in this year’s event.

The jubilee 15th International Bibliological Conference is timed to the 40th anniversary of the Bibliology Research Department of the National Library of Belarus. The distinctive national bibliographic school appeared and developed thanks to the fruitful work of the Bibliology Research Department and personal contribution of the staff.

The two-day program features a plenary session, seven breakout sessions and the opening of the “Keepers of Rarities” exhibition. The scope of the conference will be diverse, that means an interest in the history of books in Belarus and its comprehension in a global context.

The annual International Bibliological Conference gathers researchers from around the world. This year, the conference will be attended by bibliographers, historians, linguists, cultural scientists and philosophers from Belarus, Great Britain, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine, who will present the latest research on the history of manuscripts and printed books. The goals of the event are to share the results of scientific research and achievements, facilitate dialogue and cooperation between researchers in different countries, develop optimally effective approaches to the solution of urgent issues and, most importantly, inspire participants to implement new ideas and projects.

The conference is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the National Library of Belarus. The partners are the EU Project MOST and the Polish Institute in Minsk.

The opening of the “Keepers of Rarities” exhibition (timed to the 40th anniversary of the Bibliology Research Department): 16.30, gallery “Labyrinth” and Book Museum (3rd floor).
